A motivating atmosphere in your fitness club
A club design creates a motivating atmosphere when it is a part of the general branding and can be found back everywhere. This starts with the entrance of the club, goes through the locker rooms and ends with the design of the homepage. Even more important is the look and feel of what you get when you walk into the group fitness and workout rooms because, ”That’s where all the magic happens.” We work in a motivational industry which means fitness is not just something we do and work for, but something we live! The motivation and passion for the sport is what drives us.
WHAT ROLE DOES DESIGN PLAY
Consciously or unconsciously, the most successful fitness clubs in the world create a motivating gym based on club design. They create a place where club members not only want to be seen, but also enjoy being there and, above all, feel good.
THE KEY IN CREATING A MOTIVATING ATMOSPHERE
Think about what you want to do with the environment in your club to stimulate positive energy, the best workouts and motivation among members. Because an inspiring design plays an important role, in creating ”Entertainment Experiences”. This is one of the most effective ways for you to magnetize and retain your club members in the long run. Before you start repainting and picking out all sorts of decorations, first sit down with your team to answer the following questions:
1. WHAT ARE MEMBERS’ EXPERIENCES?
What do your members experience when they walk into the club? What do they think about the club? How do they feel and what would they do if it were their own club? What kind of environment would they most like to train in themselves?
2. WHAT DOES THE ENVIRONMENT LOOK LIKE?
What kind of images motivate members when they train? What fits the club and the history of the club? Think carefully about what the club’s history/mission is and make sure it is visible.
3. WHAT KIND OF ENERGY SHOULD BE FELT?
What feeling needs to be evoked when people enter the club? How can members be excited to train every time? Work on community, team spirit and ways to optimize the atmosphere for (new) club members.
4. IS THE MUSIC MOVING?
It’s not just the type of music that matters, but also the sound quality of the music. How loud is the music? What kind of music should be played? Who determines what music is played?
5. IN WHAT WAYS DOES THE ENVIRONMENT MAKE YOU WANT TO STAY AS A MEMBER?
Is it a place to feel comfortable? How is the team with each other? Does the lounge offer space to chill? Is the equipment of the best quality and always neatly tidied? In what ways do you make your members feel at home?
